What the tagging workflow covers.

Reviewable XBRL tags

Every concept, period, unit, decimal, dimension and extension decision remains visible and editable before the package leaves the workspace.

PDF and Word intake

Start from the annual report your team already approves, including native PDFs, scanned PDFs and Word files, then tag the extracted working set.

Taxonomy mapping

Map annual-report line items and disclosures against the relevant KVK/SBR or ESEF taxonomy, with suggested concepts that reviewers can override.

Roll-forward by filing

Reuse last year's approved XBRL tagging choices as the starting point for the current-year annual report.

Reviewer sign-off

Preparer and reviewer roles, comments and an audit trail keep the filing team in control of changes.

Validation before export

Arelle and Doc2iXBRL pre-filing checks run before download, so issues can be fixed while the report is still editable.

Doc2iXBRL prepares and validates iXBRL packages for review. Final filing acceptance depends on the receiving system, the applicable filing rules, and the reviewer's professional judgement.

Built around annual-report filing regimes.

The same tagging workflow supports different reporting paths, while keeping the rule set explicit for each filing.

KVK / Dutch GAAP SBR

For Dutch annual accounts, large-business electronic filing applies from 1 January 2026 for the past financial year. Doc2iXBRL prepares reviewable iXBRL report packages for KVK/SBR workflows and keeps validation separate from final submission.

ESEF / IFRS iXBRL

For EU-listed issuers, ESEF annual reports are prepared in XHTML with Inline XBRL tags for IFRS consolidated financial statements, including primary-statement tagging, block-tagged notes and extension anchoring where required.

XBRL tagging software FAQ

What is XBRL tagging software?
XBRL tagging software maps the facts in an annual report to taxonomy concepts so regulators and business registers can process the report as structured data. In an iXBRL workflow, those tags sit inside a human-readable XHTML report.
Can Doc2iXBRL tag PDF or Word annual reports?
Yes. Doc2iXBRL accepts PDF, scanned PDF and Word annual reports, extracts the working set, suggests taxonomy concepts and lets reviewers inspect the resulting iXBRL tags before export.
Which XBRL filing regimes does it support?
The public product pages focus on KVK/SBR filing for Dutch GAAP annual accounts and ESEF reporting for EU-listed IFRS issuers. The applicable taxonomy and filing rules are selected per filing workflow.
Can we roll forward prior-year XBRL tags?
Yes. Prior-year approved tagging decisions can be reused as a starting point, then reviewed against the current-year annual report before validation and export.
Does validation guarantee acceptance by KVK or an ESEF portal?
No. Validation catches specification and filing-rule issues before export, but final acceptance depends on the receiving system and the reviewer's professional judgement.
How is this different from an outsourced tagging service?
Doc2iXBRL is software for teams that want reviewer control inside the workspace. You can still work with your accountant, filing agent or auditor, but the tags, comments, validation results and export remain visible to your team.
